It increasingly looks like both David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have both lost their game of inches. Pastor Raphael Warnock has been projected to narrowly defeat Kelly Loeffler while 33-year old film producer/pajama boy Jon Ossoff surged into the lead over David Perdue.
Both races will likely trigger recounts, if the results hold, the Democrats and Republicans will each have 50 senators with Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris giving Democrats the tie-breaker. Kentucky senator Mitch McConnell will also lose his role as Senate majority leader. As of 3:30 a.m. ET, Ossoff have surged to a 13,000 vote lead over Perdue. Warnock with a 40,000 vote advantage over Loeffler. The remaining ballots are believed to be absentee and will further favor both Democrats. Make no mistake, both the media and billionaire sports owners played a hand in dictating both races, along with racial demographics that continue to evolve. CNN and the New York Times glossed over Warnock's bigoted anti-Israel rhetoric or reports of an incident involving his wife last year. And the LGBT-driven WNBA celebrated the ouster of Loeffler, their activism towards the Atlanta Dream part-owner hailed by the media as playing a key role.
In October it was disclosed that Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC owner Arthur Blank contributed $40,000 to Joe Biden's campaign fund. Atlanta Hawks owner Tony Ressler has targeted Governor Brian Kemp on multiple issues over the past two years. Kemp will likely face a rematch in 2022 with former Georgia House minority leader Stacey Abrams. Once again, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena served as early voting sites, promoted heavily by both the Hawks and Atlanta United/Atlanta Falcons.
The Atlanta Braves moved from their central Turner Field location in 2017 to a new venue just outside Altanta's perimeter. The baseball club has mostly stayed away from interfering with the 2020 election landscape. The final results of Ossoff v. Perdue may be cemented by Wednesday. Add that to potential violence and chaos in Washington involving Donald Trump supporters and you have one heck of a start to 2021.
