For the first time since 2007 a Formula 1 race will be run without Lewis Hamilton, who is in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. Hamilton noted he felt drained after holding off Max Verstappen to win last weekends Bahrain Grand Prix. The event was marred by a horror crash that saw Romain Grosjean escape with only minor burns.
After three negative tests leading to the Bahrain race, Hamilton tested positive on Monday, a result confirmed by a follow-up test.
This coming week's race will be held at the same venue, using a different layout. Hamilton has already clinched his seventh Formula 1 title, he and Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas have combined to win 13 of 15 events in 2020.
