As border restrictions between Canada and the United States remain in place, Patrick Mahomes suggests the Toronto Raptors temporarily relocate to Kansas City for the 2020-21 season. Mahomes social media sentiments were echoed by Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas. Other possible destinations for the Raptors include Louisville and Buffalo, where the Toronto Blue Jays played their 2020 baseball schedule.
Although Louisville boasts an NBA-ready arena, the league playing games there in the aftermath of Breonna Taylor would be problematic.
Option number one for the Raptors is to remain in Toronto, should current Covid-driven border restrictions be revised and/or relaxed by January 1 - the NBA is tentatively looking at beginning the 2020-21 season Dec. 22. Kansas City last hosted the NBA in 1985, Louisville was home to an American Basketball Association franchise from 1967-1976 while Buffalo's NBA entry relocated to San Diego in 1978.
