Minnesota at Wisconsin Football Cancelled

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

Due to Covid issues within the Gophers program, Wisconsin's scheduled game v. Minnesota for the Paul Bunyan Axe is off for the first time in 113 years. It will be the third cancelled game for Wisconsin, the previous two occasions due to a Covid outbreak within the Badgers program. As a result, Wisconsin (2-1) falls below the six-game threshold needed to be eligible for the Big Ten title. Northwestern (5-0) is already in the drivers seat as the Western Division representative by virtue of the Wildcats 17-7 win over Wisconsin last Saturday.

The drastic uptick in Covid cases nationwide has cut a wide swath across NCAA football in recent weeks, resulting more than 25 percent of all games being postponed or cancelled.
